A Very Merry Christmas in Italy

Happy Holidays everyone! A bit delayed, I know. December has flown by with flying colors and lots of adventures, which I'll get to next year (ha, get it?). Let's talk about the most important things first: I spent Christmas in Italy!

My wonderful, amazing, oh so fabulous and generous friend Laura invited me to spend Christmas in Italy with her family, and I so kindly obliged, bought my tickets to get there and we were on our way! (This process took a little bit longer than one conversation, but we'll skip those silly details).

We started our trip at 4:30 in the morning, ready to catch our train from Rennes to Paris. We left the station by a glorious 6:15, and were in Paris by 9!

Hello, Charles de Gaulle

Making friends in between, of course

Then our flight to Rome got delayed! And then we only had 30 minutes to make our connecting flight, woo! Laura is happy - doesn't she look happy? (P.S. We made it)
And then we were in Italy by 7! ITALY.

I got a mini night-tour of the small city in Sicily that we were in. Everyone knows everyone, and they all spoke in Italian (duh) (which I sort of got the idea of because some words are similar to French!).

Then at midnight we went to a bakery that opens at midnight to serve hot croissants filled with gooey Nutella or white chocolate or crème. To die for.

We took a trip to Segesta, a temple nearby Laura's house

Meat and cheese and meat and cheese and wine and cute little old Italian men

Italy is perfect, it's best to just accept that now.

Italian baking!!

Nonni teaching us how to make these. Pay attention!

And then you fry them!

Christmas Eve!

Italians like food or something? Have you ever heard of that?

We took a drive upupup to Erice, a medieval town at the very top of a mountain in Sicily

Fun fact: Sheep have the right of way in Italy

I LOVE ITALY. I ate a lot of delicious food, I hung out with an amazing family, I had a wonderful Christmas, I played cards and learned some Italian - it was so warm (light sweater weather, anyone?) and the sun shinedshinedshined (so unlike Rennes). I think I'll just move there.
